JAKARTA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono accompanied by his wife and a number of cabinet ministers visited earthquake victims at Soeradji Tirtonegoro Hospital in the Central Java town of Klaten on Saturday.
During the visit, Susilo asked the quake victims to be patient in facing the disaster that had befallen them, the Antara news agency reported.
Susilo said the government has been trying its best to provide medical treatment to quake victims. However, in a state of emergency, the number of health facilities was limited.
The president also observed tents put up outside the hospital to treat quake victims and held dialogs with them.
From Klaten, Susilo and his entourage went straight to Bantul, which took the brunt of Saturday's earthquake.
In Bantul alone, at least 2,000 people were killed and thousands of others injured due to the natural disaster, the Antara said. Enditem
