JAKARTA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Defence Forces (TNI)have assigned a CN-235 airplane to carry out aerial photography on areas in the Yogyakarta region affected by Saturday morning's 5.9-magnitude earthquake, a spokesman said.

"The purpose of the activity is to make a detailed map of areas devastated by the quake," Antara news agecny quoted Rear Admiral Sunarto Sjoekrono Putra, head of the TNI headquarters' information center, as saying.

He said the TNI had also sent a Hercules C-130 plane carrying a TNI field medical team and three helicopters to evacuate victims.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will visit Yogyakarta to check the sites on Saturday afternoon.

Yudhoyono also instructed Health Minister Siti Fadillah Supari to set up field hospitals n the quake-hit areas because the conventional hospitals in the province could no longer accomodate thousands of wounded people.

The President also instructed TNI Commander Marshall Djoko Suyanto to send troops to help treat those injured in the disaster and to bury the dead.

According to the latest news, about 2,200 people were killed inthe earthquake. Enditem
