ROME, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Argentina's national soccer team arrived in Italy Friday evening for the World Cup finals which begins on June 9.

Argentina will stay in Rome until Monday, when the team will travel to Naples, and then on to Salermo on Tuesday, where they will play Angola in their last friendly game.

On arrival, Argentine soccer manager, Jose Pekerman, told reporters that "little by little we are growing, achieving the targets we had planned."

Argentina has won two World Cups, in 1978 at home and 1986 in Mexico. The nation had also reached the finals in Uruguay in 1930 and Italy in 1990.

The Angola-Italy game takes place at 7.00 p.m. in the Arechi Stadium. Following the game, the team will travel to Nuremberg, Germany, and then take a coach to Herzogenaurach, a small town 19 km from Nuremberg, where they will be based.

Argentina is in Group C, alongside the Netherlands, Cote d'Ivoire, and Serbia and Montenegro. Their first game, on June 10, is against Cote d'Ivoire in Hamburg. Enditem
