BEIRUT, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora on Friday held Israel accountable for the assassination of a leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (holy war) in south Lebanon, local press reported.
Speaking before the cabinet session, Siniora had harsh words for the car bombing in Sidon, saying its perpetrators wanted to "hamper the country's security".
Israel "is the main country that wants to harm Lebanon", Siniora added.
The Lebanese cabinet condemned the car bombing, saying Israel's fingerprints were "all over" the murder.
A powerful car bomb explosion in the coastal city Sidon, 40 km south of Beirut, killed Mahmoud Mjzoub, the leader of Islamic Jihad in Sidon, and his brother Nidal Mjzoub on Friday. Enditem |
