JAKARTA, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Embassy in Dili had so far accommodated some 50 Indonesians seeking shelters following the shootout between Timor Leste's security officers and sacked soliders on Wednesday and Thursday in the capital, according to an Indonesian diplomat.

"Up to Thursday night, some 50 Indonesians have sought for refuge and accommodated here," Secretary II for Political, Information and Social Cultural Affairs, Leroy Siagian, was quoted on Friday by official news agency Antara as saying.

He said the embassy also coordinated with Indonesian noted figures in Dili in anticipation of worsening situation.

At least seven PNTL (national police) members were killed Thursday during a shootout in Dili between Timor Leste (FDTL) regular forces and national police personnel, on the one side, and soldiers who had been fired for rebellion and desertion, on the other. Enditem
