BAGHDAD, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed and 33 others wounded when a car bomb went off in a busy popular market in central Baghdad on Friday, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
"An explosive-packed car went off in Souq al-Jumaa open market in Nahdha area, an open market usually crowded on Friday weekend holiday in Iraq," the source said on condition of anonymity.
"Five people were killed and 33 others wounded, most of themsellers and shoppers," the source said.
Violence and sectarian reprisal attacks have mounted in the war-torn country despite the formation of a new government. Enditem |
