BRUSSELS, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The Dutch team will launch a series of intensive friendly matches for the upcoming German World Cup, Dutch football association said on Thursday.

On May 27, a friendly between the Netherlands and Cameroon will be held in Rotterdam.

The Dutch football association attaches importance to this friendly for Cameroon has been a "major force" in African football for the past 20 years.

Although missing from Germany 2006, which would have been their fifth consecutive qualification, Cameroon are still a force to be reckoned with, and boast some impressive individual players such as Samuel Eto'o, Eric Djemba Djemba and team captain Rigobert Song.

The Netherlands will use this game to test themselves against African opposition, in preparation for their World Cup game on June 16 in Stuttgart against the Cote d'Ivoire, the team that beat Cameroon to a place in the finals by just one point.

On June 1, the Netherlands will face with Mexico at a friendly in Eindhoven, trying to make preparations for its World Cup match with Argentina.

On June 4, a friendly between the orange team and Australia will be held in Rotterdam.

During the upcoming German World Cup, the Netherlands, Argentina, Cote d'Ivoire and Serbia are at Group C. Enditem
