BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinaview.cn , the English channel of Xinhuanet.com (also known as news.cn), launched its new version Wednesday.

"By adopting latest Internet technologies and largely remodeling content structure, it aims at providing better online news reports and more convenient services to our readers. It will better reach Xinhuanet's goal of 'Publicizing China, Reporting the world,'" said Zhou Xisheng, editor-in-chief of Xinhuanet.

Xinhuanet, the online service of Xinhua News Agency, is one of the eight state-level leading news portals in China.

    Reader-friendly layout

The new version has adopted a wide-screen design, with light blue as its background color and an easy-reading interface for the web-surfers. More images are presented to make online reading more vivid, interesting and rewarding.

    Remodeled content

The new version has packaged original columns and restructured them into "China," "World," "Business," "Culture/Edu," "Sports," "Entertainment," "Sci-Tech ," "Health." The new columns will continue to provide authoritative, timely, accurate and objective news coverage, especially for overseas readers who want to learn more about a rapidly changing China.

Besides, the newly-designed column "Most Popular Stories" will enable the surfers to get the most important, interesting news stories with just one click.

    Multimedia technology

Latest digital features and Web technologies have been incorporated into the new version, such as the audio/video programs, to let the surfers view live newscast anytime of the day they want.

    Resourceful service

To improve its online service, the new version has also built up links to related columns of Gov.cn , the official website of the Chinese central government, which is maintained and updated by Xinhuanet under authorization. The enormous resources of Gov.cn in historical file, official publications and government E-service will aid Chinaview.cn to provide more authoritative and all-round service for the surfers both domestic and abroad.

"We especially owe the past success of Chinaview.cn to the surfers who have been supporting it all along, and we will always be open to all opinions in the future to make Chinaview.cn a bigger success," said Zhou. Enditem (By Yang Lei)
