MADRID, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Spain's Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero announced on Wednesday that the country's Interior Ministry has created an intelligence center to strengthen the fight against organized crime in the country.
After terrorism, the government considers organized crime to be the most important risk to the nation's security, which needs an "unequivocal response," he said, adding the state's security forces and police bodies must have all the data they need at their disposal.
The government's announcement followed a recent wave of robberies in the built up areas of Spain's Mediterranean coast.
Zapatero also said that he was mobilizing crime-fighting groups to the Mediterranean region. Enditem |
