WASHINGTON, May 24 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush is due to meet Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi at the White House on June 29, White House spokesman Tony Snow said on Wednesday.

The two leaders will talk about "the war on terror, defending freedom and democracy, promoting regional security and prosperity in Asia and enhancing closer cooperation on global economic issues," Snow told reporters.

Besides, Snow said, Japan's role in the Iraq war and U.S. beef exports are expected to be on the agenda.

Koizumi, one of Bush's closest allies on the Iraq war, is set to step down in September.

Earlier this month, Washington and Tokyo reached an agreement on ways to strengthen their security alliance. Enditem
