HELSINKI, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Montenegro could declare independence on July, according to Vuk Draskovic, the foreign minister of Serbia and Montenegro, during his visit in Finland Wednesday.

Speaking at a seminar in the Finnish capital Helsinki, Draskovic said that the aim is for two internationally recognized independent states to be created soon. But he noted that Montenegro and Kosovo, which is also aspiring to independence, should not be compared. Montenegro has been an independent state before, whereas Kosovo has been a province of Serbia.

Draskovic said any international moves to settle the status on Kosovo could trigger new turbulence in the Balkans.

During his visit in Finland, Draskovic met with Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja for talks on the integration process with the EU as well as Serbia and Montenegro's political situation after the referendum on independence in Montenegro. Enditem
