ROK breaks world record of women weightlifting

    SEOUL, May 22 (Xinhua) -- South Korean female weightlifter Jang Mi-ran broke a world record for the women's 75-plus-kilogram weightlifting with 318 kg on Monday.

    The 23-year-old Jang set the record during a three-nation invitational competition between South Korea, China and Japan in South Korea's Wonju city.

    The previous world record was owned by Chinese Tang Gonghong, who lifted 305 kg at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

    Jang was the first South Korean to set a world record in women weightlifting. Enditem
