www.chinaview.cn 2006-05-19 16:45:57

JAKARTA, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Foreign Minister MahmudAl Zahar is due to visit Indonesia on May 25-27, Indonesian Foreign Ministry said here on Friday.

During the visit, the minister would discuss with Indonesian officials the latest situation in Palestine and the difficulties being faced by the people, said ministry spokesman Desra Percaya.

"The visit would be used for exchanging views and briefing about the current situation in the Palestine and the difficulties being faced by Palestinian people now," he said.

Indonesia will convey proposal of initiative, such as encouraging the process of implementation of the road map.

International aid was suspended when the Hamas government came to power. Palestine is facing a financial meltdown.

Western powers have demanded that Hamas recognize Israel, renounce violence and embrace existing peace deals. Hamas, thus far, has refused to do so. Enditem กก
