UN urges US to close Guantanamo Bay detention camp

    GENEVA, May 19 (Xinhua) -- A UN anti-torture panel Friday urged the United States to close any secret prisons abroad and the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.

    The UN Committee on Torture also said in its report that the United States should stop send prisoners to countries where they might be tortured.

    In addition, the Bush Administration should take firm measures to get rid of all forms of torture, the 11-page panel report stressed. Enditem
