File photo taken in August, 1997, shows a night scene of the Gushuling rock-crushing system of the Three Gorges Dam, Yichang, central China's Hubei province. Modern equipment used in the Three Gorges Project boast advanced technologies and credible capabilities to guarantee the completion of the dam on time on May 20, 2006. Launched in 1993, the massive Three Gorges hydropower project is designed to control flooding on the Yangtze River, China's longest waterway, and increase China's electricity production. When the entire project is completed in 2009, it will be able to generate 84.7 billion kwhs of electricity annually. (Xinhua Photo)
