WASHINGTON, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Elgin Baylor, the Los Angeles Clippers' vice
president of basketball operations since 1986, was named NBA's Executive of the
Year.
Baylor received 15 votes to eight from 45 NBA executives for Bryan
Colangelo, who began the season at Phoenix and finished second.
He will be presented with the award by Stan Mcneal of the Sporting News
before Games 6 of the Western Conference semifinals against Phoenix Thursday.
The Clippers missed the playoffs for nine years in a row before snapping the
skid this season. Baylor assembled a solid team this season that went 47-35, the
second-best record in club history, and is playing Phoenix in the second round
of the NBA playoffs.
Baylor obtained veteran guard Sam Cassell in a trade with Minnesota and
signed free agent guard Cuttino Mobley as well as dealing for forward Vladimir
