MADRID, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Some 10.7 million
Spaniards watched the whole of Barcelona's Champions League final victory on
Wednesday night, and another 20.2 million tuned in for some of thegame, the
largest TV audience since 2002, research company Sofles said on Thursday.
Barcelona's second Champions trophy victory scored an
average audience of 10.3 million according to rival research group Primera,
owned by TVE.
The last time Spanish TV had so many viewers was
during the penalty shoot out of the South Korea-Spain match in the 2002 World
Cup.
The "golden minute", with the highest number of
people watching, was at 10:29 p.m. local time, when around 14 million Spaniards
watched Brazil's Juliano Belleti score the winning goal.
During victory celebrations in the city of Barcelona,
vandals trashed the center of the city, causing damage estimated by the city
council at 100,000 euros to the city's Canaletas fountain. Enditem
