ISLAMABAD, May 18 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Early Recovery Plan for
Pakistan has launched aiming to bridge the transition from relief to
reconstruction operations and to mobilize the proposals 190 million U.S. dollars
worth of pledges, local newspaper The Nation reported on Thursday.
Under the plan, efforts would be redirected from saving lives to restoring
livelihood of the stricken communities.
"It offers concrete proposals to mobilize 190 million dollars worth of
pledges and will play a catalytic role in ensuring the rest of 6.2 billion
dollars pledges in grants and loans," according to the United Nation Development
Program.
The financial summary of different sectors including health, education and
livelihood revealed that total cost of interventionswas 296.9 million dollars
and available funds were 107.1 million dollars and 189.8 million dollars were
funds to be identified.
The plan charts programs in priority sectors such as education,health, water and sanitation, housing, shelter, camp management and disaster risk reduction. Enditem |
