Jia Qinglin meets delegation of Chinese communities from Philippines

    BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), had a meeting here Wednesday with a delegation of the Chinese communities fro m the Philippines.

    In their talks, Jia spoke highly of the healthy and smooth development of the friendly relations between China and the Philippines as well as the contribution made by overseas Chinese to the economic and social development of the Philippines and the promotion of the Sino-Philippine friendly cooperation.

    He also thanked the Chinese communities in the Philippines for their endless efforts to push forward China's economic development and peaceful reunification.

    The visitors were also informed of the country's current economic and social development and its 11th Five-Year Plan. Enditem
