BANGKOK, May 16 (Xinhua) -- A C-130 military plane of United States crashed in central Thailand on Tuesday when the joint military exercises code name "Cobra Gold 2006" were held, a military source told Xinhua.

The source said local villagers saw the plane crashed into the ground and disappeared in the forest in central province of Sa Kaeo. Thai military then checked the navy flight team and concluded it could be an U.S. military aircraft attending the Cobra Gold 2006.

The military rescue team have rushed to the scene, and more details are awaiting investigation.

An official at the U.S. Embassy in Thailand said that the embassy is now inspecting the facticity of the report. Enditem
