UNITED NATIONS, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The UN Security Council on Monday
extended the mandate of the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) for two
weeks until May 31.
In a resolution unanimously adopted by the council members, theCouncil decided that it would adjust that mandate, as well as the Mission's
troop level by the end of the month if it determined, inlight of the outcome of
the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission meeting on Wednesday, that the parties
had not complied fully withresolution 1640 (2005).
It also asked the UN Secretary-General to report to it on the parties'
compliance with the current resolution within seven days of its adoption, and to
provide it with any further recommendations on adjusting UNMEE to focus on
