    BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhuanet) -- The best-selling phenomenon "The Da Vinci Code" ,a major hollywood production starring Tom Hanks, is set for release this Friday.

    The movies is based on Dan Brown's novel of Catholic Church intrique and Christian mystery, which has sold more than 40 million copies since 2003.

    Controversies surrounding the novel intensifies with the movie's arrival.

    Cheryl DelVisco of Louisville said she's looking forward to the movie after enjoying the book.

    But DelVisco, a Catholic, wrestled with some of the book's claims. Some are even boycotting.

    Brown claims in his novel that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were the married founders of a royal dynasty and that no one considered Jesus divine until the fourth-century Roman Emperor Constantine forced the idea on people in collusion with the Catholic Church.

    Movie director Ron Howard wrote in The Los Angeles Times: "It's not theology. It's not history." Enditem
