D-8 forge closer ties for large global role, further development

    BALI, Indonesia, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The Developing 8 (D-8) here on Saturday at their fifth summit forged closer ties by formulating the Bali Declaration and signing two trade agreements in efforts to seek further development and play a more active role at the global level.

    The declaration showed the member countries' concerns for economic promotion, attainment of the United Nations' Millennium Goals, the housing of the poor, the entry to the WTO, the solving of energy crisis, the prevention of pandemic as well as issues of world peace, said Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyuno at a press conference held on Saturday afternoon at the end of the summit. <<Full Story

    BALI, Indonesia, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The Developing 8 (D-8) here on Saturday signed the Bali Declaration in order to reaffirm the member countries' determination to strive for further development in various fields, said Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyuno at the end of the Fifth D-8 Summit.

    Denpasar, Bali, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The Developing 8 (D-8) here on Saturday signed the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and the Multilateral Agreement on Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters, on the sideline of the D-8 Summit in order to facilitate trade among the member countries.

    Trade, state or foreign ministers signed the two documents in the presence of state leaders from the member countries. <<Full Story

D-8 foreign ministers agree to set up secretariat

    BALI, Indonesia, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Foreign ministers of the developing eight (D-8) member countries agreed here on Thursday to set up a secretariat to be operated by a secretary general, a director and an economic expert in an effort to strengthen D-8 cooperation in the economic and trade fields, Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said. <<Full Story
