Three Gorges Project developer issues unsecured bonds

    YICHANG, Hubei Province, May 11 (Xinhua) -- China Yangtze River Three Gorges Project Development Corporation began to issue bonds worth more than 3 billion yuan (about 370 million U.S. dollars) as of Thursday.

    It is the seventh debenture made by the corporation, developer of the multi-functional water control and power generation facility that is being constructed on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Full story >>

80,000 to be evacuated for Three Gorges Dam's rising waters

    CHONGQING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Some 80,000 residents in the Three Gorges dam area in central China are to be resettled to pave the way for the water to rise from 135 meters to 156 meters this year.

    Ruan Limin, deput y director of the Chongqing Resettlement Bureau, said the resettlement program, in phase four of the construction of the world's largest hydro-power project, will be launched between September and October. Full story >>

Dam of Three Gorges Project to be completed in late May

    YICHANG, Hubei Province, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Construction for the giant dam of the Three Gorges hydropower project on the Yangtze River was expected to finish on May 20, an executive with the China Yangtze River Three Gorges Project Development Corporation said Sunday.

    "There are less than 3,000 cubic meters of concrete left to be placed before the dam will finally complete nine months ahead of the schedule," said Cao Guangjing, deputy general manager of the corporation. Full story >>

Temporary cofferdam at Three Gorges Project to be demolished

   YICHANG, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The temporary cofferdam at the site of the third-stage of construction of the Three Gorges Dam is to be demolished on June 6, said China Three Gorges Project Corporation.  The section above 110 meters of the cofferdam will be demolished on June 6 and preparations for the blasting operation have been completed. Full story >>
