Suns, Heat win away games to lead NBA playoffs series

    WASHINGTON, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Shawn Marion scored 32 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the Phoenix Suns for a 94-91 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game Three of their Western Conference semi-final series in Los Angeles on Friday.

    Tim Thomas added 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Suns, who take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series ahead of Game Four on Sunday.

    In the day's other Eastern Conference semifinal playoff game, Dwyane Wade had 30 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds to pace the Miami Heat for a 103-92 win over the New Jersey Nets in East Rutherford.

    Miami also lead the best-of-seven series 2-1 with Game Four in New Jersey on Sunday.

    While Raja Bell added 14 points for the Suns, Steve Nash scored only 12 points but added 10 assists and a key basket with less than four seconds remaining to give the Suns a three-point lead.

    Phoenix came into the game with an 0-8 record in games deciding by three points or less this season.

    Elton Brand led Los Angeles with 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while Vladimir Radmanovic added 18 points for the Clippers, but missed a potential game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer.

    The teams were tied 48-48 at the half but the Suns took a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter.

    The Clippers rallied to lead the final quarter, but the Suns went 23-of-26 from the free throw line overall, with many of those made in the final quarter.

    In East Rutherford, Wade left the game briefly when he took an elbow to the face from Vince Carter, but quickly returned to rally the Heat offense in the tight game, which neither team led by more than nine points until the final minute.

    Shaquille O'Neal added 19 points and nine rebounds for Miami, while Antoine Walker contributed 16 points.

    Vince Carter scored 43 points to lead all scorers for the Nets,but he committed costly turnovers in the fourth quarter.

    Richard Jefferson scored 17 points for the Nets, but didn't score in the fourth quarter where Jason Kidd was also scoreless, finishing with 10 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds.

    The Nets played without Clifford Robinson who was suspended five games by the NBA for violating the league's anti-drug policy.Enditem
