BERLIN, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath said that next month's World Cup could affect the club's performances next season.

He warned of a slow start next season as the players might need time to recover from the World Cup.

"Next season, we'll have to wait and see how all our international players recover from the World Cup," Magath said. "The tournament can hurt us."

Bayern won two Germany two German domestic league and cup doubles in Magath's first two seasons in charge.

But Magath faced criticism from Bayern executives after the club was stopped by AC Milan at the Champions League round of 16 this season.

Magath complained that his accomplishments were not respected despite the "great achievement" in winning the German double.

"We defended both titles. I was disappointed, too, at getting knocked out of the Champions League, but I can't figure out what the difference is between going out in the round of 16 or the semi-final when it's against a good team like AC Milan." Enditem
