IAAF ratifies indoord world records

    PARIS, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Thursday ratified a string of indoor world records set by Russian athletes.

    The world ruling body of the sport approved Russian runner Yelena Soboleva's record time of 3 minutes, 58.28 seconds in the 1,500 meters she clocked in Moscow on Feb. 18, which beat Regina Jacobs' record of 3:59.98.

    Another ratified record was set by Liliya Shobukhova, who clocked 8:27.86 in the 3,000 meters on Feb. 17 in Moscow, bettering Berhane Adere's time of 8:29.15.

    The IAAF also ratified the Russian women's indoor 1,600-meter relay record of 3:23.37, set in Glasgow, Scotland, on Jan. 6.

    The record by high jumper Kajsa Bergqvist was also ratified. The Swede cleared 2.08 meters on Feb. 4 in Arnstadt, Germany, breaking Heike Henkel's 14-year-old mark of 2.07 meters. Enditem
