BANGKOK, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Japanese straw-weight champion Nanako Kikuchi held off her challenger Thai female inmate boxer Siriporn Sor Siriporn Wednesday in a bout held in a prison in central Bangkok.

In the ten-round match organized by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in Bangkok's central prison, "Black Rose" Siriporn, chosen by Thai Corrections Department to fight, was never easily beaten down.

But Kikuchi, the 31-year-old Japanese "Fierce Lion" used to her advantage the powerful right punch which has knocked out many rival boxers.

Kikuchi, a Japanese prisoner, was sentenced in jail for six years for drug addict. Last year, another Thai inmate, Wannee Chaisena, lost an action-packed bout against Kikuchi for the WBC straw-weight crown in the same prison.

The contest was held for the first time last year by Thai Corrections Department and the World Boxing Council.

Siriporn, 23, has won five of her last seven matches. She was given a 10-year jail term for drugs charges, and has now served more than six years. Enditem
