WASHINGTON, May 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush said on Wednesday that his brother, Florida Governor Jeb Bush, would make "a great president" and could have a "very bright" political future.

The president said he would like to see the governor to run for president at some point in time, "but I have no idea if that's his intention or not."

Bush made the remarks in an interview with Florida reporters, and an account of the interview was posted on the St. Petersburg Times Web site.

In response to a question whether Jeb Bush should run for president, Bush said he thought his brother would make "a great president."

"But it's up to Jeb to make a decision to run," he added.

Bush said he had no idea what his brother was going to do after leaving the governor's office next year, but thought his brother would have a "very bright" political future.

Jeb Bush, 53, has said he would not run for president in 2008 and he reiterated that position on Wednesday.

"I'm not running for president. I'm not running for the United States Senate. I'm trying to be a good governor," he said during the annual hurricane conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Enditem
