LONDON, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Merely 26 percent of Britons were satisfied with Prime Minister Tony Blair, making him the most unpopular Labor prime minister since the 1960s, according to the latest opinion poll.
The opinion poll to be published in Wednesday's Daily Telegraph newspaper said that Blair's satisfaction rating was one percentage point less than Harold Wilson's support rating in May 1968 after adevaluation of pound sterling.
The YouGov survey, in which 1,910 people were questioned onlineon Monday and Tuesday, also showed that support for Blair's Labor party stood at 31 percent, compared with 37 percent for the Conservatives, the main opposition.
The survey reinforced an opinion poll released on Tuesday which put Labor at its lowest level since 1992.
The Populus survey conducted by The Times newspaper showed Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chancellor Gordon Brown had a respective 30 percent and 31 percent support.
Meanwhile, support for David Cameron, the young leader of the country's major opposition party -- the Conservatives, led by eight percentage points ahead of Blair. Enditem |
