WASHINGTON, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Former Olympic sprint queen Marion Jones will
compete for the first time in 11 months when sheraces against ex-world champion
Torri Edwards over 100 metres in Veracruz, Mexico on Saturday.
"She is looking forward to running again and is hoping to run agood race,"
her manager Charles Wells said from his Texas office on Tuesday.
Jones, 30, has not competed since finishing fourth in a 100 metres in
Monterrey, Mexico on June 11, 2005.
Jones, who won five medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics including three
golds, has run poorly since having a child with former world record holder Tim
Montgomery in June 2003.
Her coach of the previous two seasons, Steve Riddick, and former partner
Montgomery, have been indicted on federal bank fraud charges.
The couple separated last year and Montgomery was banned from the sport for
two years and stripped of his 100 metres record in December by the Court of
Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for banned substances provided by California
laboratory BALCO.
Montgomery has denied taking performance-enhancing drugs. He announced his
retirement in December.
Jones also has been under scrutiny by USADA but has never been charged.
Saturday's meeting will also feature American record-holder Maurice Greene
in the 100 metres, Olympic and world long jump champion Dwight Phillips and
former Olympic and world champion Allen Johnson in the 110 metres hurdles.
