Sepcial Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq
BAGHDAD, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Seventeen people were killed and about 35 others wounded in a suicide car bomb attack in a market in the Iraqi northern city of Tal Afar on Tuesday, sources said.
A suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden truck in a busy market in Tal Afar on Tuesday evening, causing heavy casualties including Iraqi police and army soldiers, said the sources.
Tal Afar has witnessed fierce clashes between insurgents and the U.S. forces in the past, but U.S. President George W. Bush months ago listed the city as an example of progress in Iraq's security situation. Enditem |
