ATHENS, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani reiterated here on Tuesday that his country does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, adding that the Russian proposal to shift uranium enrichment for Iran's nuclear program to Russia was still a possibility.
During the press conference after meeting with Greek
Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis, the Iranian envoy stressed that Iran was
seeking to develop nuclear power for civil uses only.
Larijani arrived in Athens early in the day from
Ankara, Turkey, amid growing international pressure on Iran.
He underlined that Tehran had not rejected a Russian
proposal for the co-production of enriched uranium on Russian soil but said that
it needed more time to work on the legal, technical and commercial aspects.
