Indonesia urges non-OPEC countries to boost supply
www.chinaview.cn 2006-05-08 22:00:23

JAKARTA, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia urged non-OPEC member countries to raise their oil supply in a bid to decrease the spiraling oil price, Energy and Mineral Resource Minister Purnomom Yusgiantoro said here on Monday.

The country's participation in increasing the supply was expected to give psychological impact on the balance of the current supply and demand, he said.

"Now, we expect the cooperation of the non-OPEC countries, such as Russia, Mexico. We hope they can participate, especially in giving psychological impact on the balance of current demand and supply," he told reporters.

OPEC only contributes 40 percent of the world oil supply. The rest is from non-OPEC countries, according to the minister.

World oil price has climbed to more than 70 US dollars per barrel. Enditem
