JERUSALEM, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Civil Administration has begun mapping all illegal construction by settlers in the West Bank to prepare for evacuation, the daily newspaper Ha'aretz reported on Monday.
The Civil Administration in the West Bank is in the process of mapping all illegal construction by settlers throughout the territory, including the work taking place in illegal outposts, said the paper.
The mapping operation was announced on Sunday at the High Court of Justice by the commander of the Civil Administration in the West Bank Brigadier General Kamil Abu Rukun, in response to a petition by Peace Now, which called for the demolition of the outposts of Horsha and Hayovel.
All the illegal construction will be classified in terms of how close the structure is to completion and whether the construction is taking place on Palestinian property, private or state lands, according to the operation.
The whole process of mapping is expected to take about four months, after which a work plan for demolition will be presented to the government, Abu Rukun said.
"Implementing the work plan will be done according to the priorities set by the relevant authorities and to political, security and operational considerations," Abu Rukun said.
Peace Now recently petitioned the High Court of Justice, demanding that the court order the demolition of six permanent structures built without a permit in the Harasha outpost and 12 more allegedly illegal structures in Hayovel outpost in Binyamin.
The mapping operation came as Israeli army and police finished evacuating a Palestinian-owned house in the West Bank city of Hebron on Sunday, after three settler families have occupied the house for one month.
Ehud Olmert, who was sworn in as prime minister on May 4, has vowed to demarcate Israeli final borders by 2010 by evacuating isolated settlements in the West Bank while keeping the major ones with or without peace talks with the Palestinian side. Enditem
