www.chinaview.cn 2006-05-07 21:05:20

BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- China and Japan held their fifth-round of strategic dialogue in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on Sunday afternoon.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo and Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Shotaro Yachi headed the two delegations to attend the meeting.

The two sides conferred on current China-Japan relations and other issues of common concern.

According to the Chinese daily Wen Wei Po, the dialogue will be held in Beijing and Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province. Yachi would suggest a possible meeting between the Japanese and Chinese foreign ministers on the sidelines of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue to be held in Qatar later this month.

China and Japan held the previous four rounds of strategic dialogues respectively in May, June, October of last year, and February this year. Enditem
