Sepcial Report: Tension accelerates in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, May 7 (Xinhua) -- A powerful car bomb went off near a bus station in Iraq's southern Shiite holy city of Karbala on Sunday, killing at least 21 and wounding 52 others, a policesource said.

    "A suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden vehicle into a crowd of civilian vehicles near the station parking lot where buses line up to pick up passengers," the source said on condition of anonymity.

    He said the bus station is close to several government buildings and the road where the blast took place is usually usedby the Multi-National troops in the province, some 110 km south of Baghdad. Enditem
