TOKYO, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese badminton head coach Li Yongbo said here on Saturday that China will build on their Uber Cup success to win the Thomas Cup.

Chinese women's team took the Uber Cup for the fifth straight time on Saturday, with the Thomas Cup final to be played on Sunday between China and Denmark.

Li believed that the feat by the Chinese women's team would be a great inspiration to the men's squad.

"Our chances of winning the Thomas Cup get bigger following our success in Uber Cup," said Li.

After Li took over the national team in 1993, China has won the Uber Cup for five times in a row since 1998, but won the Thomas Cup only once in 2004.

"I believe the Chinese men's team would not allow themselves to be eclipsed by the women's team," said Li.

Though winning their five straight Uber Cup and tenth overall, Li still expected more to come.

"We hope to keep the Uber Cup as long as possible. We are aiming to win the sixth, eighth or tenth title in a row," Li said.

"We have some very good players who don't have chances to play here, We could propose to the International Badminton Federation to allow us to send two teams for the Uber Cup," he added with smiles. Enditem
