KATHMANDU, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Nepali anti-government guerrilla Thursday welcomed the government's decision to declare indefinite cease-fire with guerrillas, remove terrorist tags labeled on them and withdrawal of Red Corner notices against their leaders.
Welcoming the government decisions, the guerrilla decided to engage in talks with the government.
The government reciprocated the three-month unilateral cease-fire announced by the guerrilla on April 26 by announcing indefinite cease-fire on Wednesday.
Taking the government's decisions as positive, a statement issued by Prachanda, the top leader of the guerrilla, said the guerrillas have already submitted a "code of conduct" to be followed by both sides during the talks period to the government and asked the government to honestly follow it.
Outlining a road map to peace, Prachanda said the parliament talks should agree to dissolve the current government, the parliament and the constitution and form an interim government, which will draft an interim constitution and hold elections to a constituent assembly.
The guerrilla hoped unlike the previous talks, the talks this time will be successful in bringing long-term peace in Nepal.
The Nepali government Wednesday announced an indefinite cease-fire and removed the "terrorist" tag and Red Corner Notice on the anti-government guerrillas. Enditem |
