Venus Williams wins first match of the year

    WARSAW, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Venus Williams won her first match of the year on Wednesday when she beat Urszula Radwanska of Poland 6-3, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Warsaw Cup.

    Williams, who was seeded seventh in the tournament, had managed just one win since reaching the quarter-finals of the 2005 U.S. Open after suffering elbow and arm injuries.

    Williams will meet Martina Hingis in the second round. Enditem
