MOSCOW, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Russian and Armenian presidents announced Friday
a day of mourning in both countries over the tragic crash of an Armenian
airplane killing all 113 people on board in the Black Sea early Wednesday
morning, the Itar-Tass newsagency reported.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Armenian counterpart Robert
Kocharyan had a telephone conversation early Wednesday morning to express deep
and sincere condolences to the relatives of those killed citizens of Russia and
Armenia.
Putin spoke in detail about a large-scale search operation conducted by
Russia at the crash site and further planned actions.
Kocharyan expressed gratitude for Moscow's condolence and search efforts,
saying Armenian specialists would join the search operation soon.
Both sides noted that this is a common tragedy of the Russian and Armenian
peoples.
The crash of Airbus A-320 of the Armenian airline belonging to the air
company Armavia killed all 113 people on board, including six children and eight
crew. Thirty-eight bodies have been found at the crash site near the Black Sea
coast city of Adler, about 30km southeast of the destination Sochi.
Relatives of the victims have been rushing to the airport of Yerevan,
capital city of Armenia, waiting for a special flight that will take them to the
area of the plane crash off the Russiancoast.
A special commission of the Armavia Company and the head of Civil Aviation
Department under the Armenian government, Artem Movsesyan, flew to Adler to
inspect the area of the plane crash. Enditem |
