KABUL, May 3 (Xinhua) -- An Afghan senior judge was killed Tuesday night in the western province of Farah, an official confirmed Wednesday.
Two unidentified gunmen opened fire at Shaikh Ahmad, deputy judge of Farah province, as he walked out from a mosque, Provincial Governor Ezatullah Wasifi told Xinhua.
Shaikh was shot dead at the site while two gunmen escaped by a motorbike, added the governor.
The investigation was under way while no one has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
However, Wasifi blamed "the enemies of Afghanistan," a term used to refer to Taliban, had killed Ahmad.
Taliban has intensified attack against the Afghan government and foreign troops this year. Taliban-linked insurgency has claimed the lives of more than 300 people including 15 American soldiers over the past four months. Enditem |
