Former Swiss ski star shot dead at Alpine resort

    GENEVA, May 1 (Xinhua) -- The former Swiss ski star Corinne Rey-Bellet and her brother were shot dead in southwestern Switzerland and police said on Monday that they were searching for the attacker.

    An unidentified man shot dead Rey-Bellet and her brother Alain at their parents' home in the Alpine resort of Les Crosets late Sunday before he fled the scene, the police said.

    Corinne's mother was also wounded and in a serious condition in hospital, they added.

    A search for the suspect and forensic work were underway, the police said.

    Rey-Bellet lived with her husband and son in eastern Switzerland and was visiting her parents when the incident happened, the police said.

    Rey-Bellet won a silver medal in the women's downhill at the 2003 World Championship before retiring due to knee injures. Enditem
