BREMEN, May 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Wang Liqin defeated South Korea's Ryu Seung Min 3-2 in the second rubber of the 48th World Team Table Tennis Championships in Bremen, Germany on Monday.
The Chinese world champion wristed over the South Korean Olympic champion 11-8, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9 and 11-7.
Top-ranked Wang Liqin won his opener 11-8 as both famous player displayed excellent skills to win roars of cheers from the fully-packed audience.
In the second set, Wang lagged behind 1-5, but clawed back gradually to 3-5, 5-6 and 6-7. When Wang made it to 8-9, a dramatic show appeared: both players could not find the ball for a while. When the play resumed, Wang lost the hard set at 9-11.
Wang led the third before Ryu reversed the situation and won at11-8.
From 1-2 down, Wang went into the fourth set 1-3 behind, but rushed to the fore at 5-4, and never lost the tempo to tie the match at 11-9.
In the decisive set, Wang overtook Ryu all the way to 11-7 and won the match 3-2, helping China lead 2-0 in the best-of-five final.
