Jordan sends 3rd batch of humanitarian aid to Palestinians
www.chinaview.cn 2006-04-30 04:31:19

AMMAN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The third batch of humanitarian aid offered by the Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organization was sent to the Palestinian territories on Saturday.

The shipment comprises of 27 trucks laden with 400 tones of food supplies, medicine and other medical equipment.

Jordanian King Abdullah said that Jordan would continue providing aid to the Palestinian people.

Jordan sent two batches of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians during the period from March 23 to April 6, 2006.

Israel has stopped monthly transfer of 50 million U.S. dollar tax payments to the Palestinian National Authority since the radical Hamas faction swept to power by winning a landslide victory in the Jan. 25 parliamentary elections.

Israel has said the sanction remains effective unless Hamas renounces violence, recognizes Israel 's right to exist and respects previous agreements signed between Israel and the Palestinians.

The United States and the European Union also suspended direct financial aid to the PNA after Hamas-led government failed to accept Israel's conditions.

Hamas dismissed the sanctions as blackmail and punishment for the Palestinians democratic choice. Enditem
