Special report: Oil price breaks
$70 mark as Iran nuke tension simmers
NEW YORK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- World crude oil prices
rebounded Friday amid worries of supply in Iran after dropping for four straight
days this week.
New York's main contract, light sweet crude for
delivery in June, rose 91 cents to close at 71.88 dollars a barrel.
On London's ICE Futures exchange, the price of Brent
North Sea crude for June delivery was up 1.11 dollars to end at 72.02 dollars a
barrel.
The UN Security Council on Friday received IAEA's
report on Iran, which says Tehran failed to comply with UN deadline to end
uranium enrichment activities.
"I think we can say now the United States is ready to
take action in the Security Council to move to a resolution," said U.S.
Ambassador John Bolton.
It is expected that council members will discuss the
issue as early as next Wednesday. Foreign ministers from Britain, China, France,
Germany, Russia and the United States will meet in New York on May 9 over the
Iranian nuclear issue. Enditem
