Men's top eight produced at table tennis championships

    BREMEN, April 28 (Xinhua) -- The top eight teams of men paddlers were produced Friday at the 48th World Team Table Tennis Championships in Bremen, with the French team to face China in Saturday's quarter-finals.

    The Frenchmen beat their Belgian rivals 3-1 to make it to the quarterfinals.

    Russia beat former world champion Sweden 3-1 to set up a quarterfinal clash with host Germany, which finished first in Group C.

    Swedish veteran Jan Ove Waldner lost to Russia's Alexei Smirnov 3-2.

    Austria will play against China's Hong Kong, winner of Group D after finishing off Greece 3-1.

    Group B winner South Korea will face the Czech Republic, whichbeat Romania 3-1. Enditem
