BRUSSELS, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The Court of Appeal in Brussels on Wednesday started reviewing the cases of five men, who were convicted of being members of a terrorist organization by a Brussels court earlier this year.
The men, believed to be members of Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group (GICM), were involved in the bomb attacks in Casablanca as well as the Madrid train bombing on March 11, 2004.
More than 200 people died in the Madrid attack, which targeted morning commuters in the Spanish capital.
The prosecution says that all five men, who have lodged an appeal, had been in contact with numerous proven GICM members in Spain, Italy, France and the Netherlands.
House searches at the men's homes also uncovered false documents and equipment for making forged ID cards and passports.
A verdict on the appeal is not expected before September. Enditem |
