CHANGSHA, April 26 (Xinhua) -- China under 20 (U20) national football team downed Japan thanks to hitman Wang Yongpo's brace at an international friendly here on Wednesday.

Shan Dong Luneng's striker Wang Yongpo poked in a fine cross from midfielder Hao Junmin on 20 minutes and added the second 17 minutes before the final whistle to seal victory for the hosts.

"The score doesn't show anything. Each side has its advantage and we learned a lot from our rivals. We still had some problems in both attack and defence," said China coach Jia Xiuquan.

"China played a good match, and they performed like a good team," commented Japan boss Yoshida Yasushi.

"We made too many mistakes in the passing and dribbling."

China controlled both halves, and wasted several good chances to score in front of an incomplete Japan side which missed several key players due to their J-league club duty.

Both teams take this match as a warm-up for the AFC Youth Championship, which will be on show in India from October 29 to November 12. China are in Group B with the United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Australia. Enditem
