Xinhuanet 2006-04-27 04:38:19

BEIJING, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) signed an agreement on Wednesday with the country's central bank to launch a commemorative coin program.

According to the agreement, the People's Bank of China will issue series of Olympic commemorative coins, including nine gold and 14 silver coins, in the lead up to the 2008 Games.

Finland is the first country which issued the first precious metal Olympiad commemorative coins when it hosted the 15th Olympic Games in 1952. Enditem
